This project is funded by the East Asia and Pacific Program (EAP) of the International Programs (INT)
of the National Science Foundation, under their Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic (SBE) Sciences.
SBE supports research, international scientific collaboration and science statistics. The ultimate goal is to advance scientific knowledge.
INT Division of SBE http://www.nsf.gov/sbe/int/
Support of international cooperation in science and engineering is an integral part of NSF's mission.
The Office of International Science and Engineering (INT) promotes and coordinates international cooperation
by supporting new partnerships between U.S. scientists and engineers and their foreign colleagues,
or new cooperative projects between established collaborators. Activities can be in any field of science and
engineering research and education supported by NSF. Participation of students, recent Ph.D.'s, junior faculty
members, women, and minority and disabled scientists and engineers is an INT priority.
Regional Programs:
- SPECIAL EAST ASIA & PACIFIC (EAP) REGIONAL OPPORTUNITIES:

- AWARE (American Workforce and Research and Education):http://www.nsf.gov/sbe/int/eap/start.htm#aware
AWARE (American Workforce and Research and Education) focuses on the NSF objective of developing a diverse,
internationally competitive and globally-engaged U.S. workforce of scientists, engineers and well-prepared citizens.
AWARE invites requests for support of activities that address U.S. R&D workforce issues in the context of East Asia.
- International Integrative Graduate Education and Research Training (International IGERT)
NSF's Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) Program supports innovative, research-based,
graduate education and training activities in critical, emerging areas of science and engineering. A multidisciplinary
research theme provides a framework for integrating research and education and for promoting collaborative efforts across
departments and institutions. Activities are to be developed with East Asia that will benefit both the education and research
aspects of the programs, while developing international experience, competence, and outlook among new generations of U.S. scientists and engineers.
