FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC Science Summer Camp in Taiwan

The development of the FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC program is progressing well. The launch is scheduled for December 2005. The FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC data are expected to have a significant impact on operational weather prediction, climate analysis, ionospheric research and space weather forecasting. The objective of the FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC Science Summer Camp is to facilitate the use of FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC data for research and operation. Leading experts will be invited to give lectures on the various scientific aspects of FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC. It is anticipated that the summer camp will be attended by approximately 50 students from Taiwan and the U.S.
Location: The lectures will be given at the Central Weather Bureau, in Taipei.

Senior level undergrad, grad and postdoctoral graduate applicants should provide:
- A letter describing your interest in atmospheric research.
- Transcripts (unofficial acceptable) for graduate courses, dates and institutions for receipt of degrees, names of research advisor and dissertation abstract or topical outline.
- Two letters of recommendation, including one from your thesis advisor, sent directly to UCAR.
Please send us a list of names and phones/emails in case we do not receive the letters of recommendation.
With the objective to promote international training and education, the NSF AWARE program will provide travel support for selected U.S. students. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or
U.S. permanent residents to qualify for support.
Registration is no longer available. Applications and recommendations were to be received by March 15, 2005. Selected participants were notified by March 22, 2005.
