Join us for the 2025 Community Space Weather Modeling and Data Assimilation Workshop

This year's event will be held on September 10-11, 2025 at the UCAR Foothills Lab campus in Boulder, Colorado.

Objectives:
  • Exchange technical knowledge and details on ongoing space weather modeling and data assimilation efforts
  • Bring together key stakeholders developing community-based and advanced data assimilation systems within the JEDI framework to support space weather forecasting across the ionosphere, thermosphere, mesosphere, and magnetosphere
  • Collect operational needs for developing community space weather modeling and data assimilation systems, along with community input on barriers and potential solutions for implementing operational space weather data assimilation
  • Assess the roles and contributions of each participant and explore how resources can be effectively shared to achieve common objectives

Topics of interest for presentations include (but not limited to):
  • Current operational capabilities and plans
  • Advances in modeling and coupling efforts
  • Observations and measurements, including commercial vendors
  • Advancement in data assimilation: algorithm, configurations, impacts
  • Model and observation biases and uncertainty (error) estimation
  • Modeling and data assimilation requirements, e.g., data latency, model cycling frequency, boundary forcing, and boundary conditions
  • Post-processing methods to improve space weather forecasts
  • Machine learning development and applications
